The ESD.3 is a versatile and cost-effective EasySwitch PIR detector that is widely used to remotely operate CCTV systems and lighting. It is fitted with a fresnel lens for optimum light performance and has a horizontal curtain detection pattern of 12 metres x 20 metres. The detector is supplied with an occluder, allowing you to mask part of the lens to minimise false detections, ie. false detections from pets.
The EasySwitch ESD PIR detector boasts a robust 100m line of sight wireless transmission range to any EasySwitch receiver. The transmission range between an ESD PIR detector and either the ESR.4 or ESR8+8 receiver can be extended by using an external aerial, such as the AE434 high-frequency aerial.
Whenever the detector registers movement in front of the lens, it will transmit a signal to the receiver which can then, in turn, operate cameras, lighting and gates. The ESD is fitted with a light sensor so that it can detect when it is day or night. An internal timer module controls the duration that any remotely controlled lighting can stay on, between 5 seconds and 10 minutes. The lighting timer can be overridden by other EasySwitch transmitters, such as the ESF.1 or ESF.4 wireless keyfob, and the EST.1 wall switch transmitter.
The ESD detector is powered by one PP3 9-volt battery (not supplied) and has an impressive battery life of up to 2 years with normal use.
